3 reasons to be excited for 2013′s Peachtree Road Race registration

The Peachtree Road Race is by far my favorite run of the year. But not because the course is challenging, or it's warm, or the t-shirt. (All of which are still things I love, by the way) It's my favorite run because of everything else. The things they don't talk during news coverage. Because it brings the city together. It's Americana in true form. And, much more importantly, it's something I've Read the entire post [...]

2012 Peachtree Road Race: The Good Foot, The Bad, The Ugly

I am happy to announce that I have recently finished my 8th Peachtree Road Race. At this rate, I'm on track to challenge my father's 26-race run, and have only missed 8 consecutive races by one year. (Thanks, night job in Augusta.) I'm usually pretty good about a pre-Peachtree Road Race blog post. This year, sadly, I have failed. Moreover, I've failed as a blogger in 2012. Though, I beat my sister Read the entire post [...]

I got the Peachtree Road Race rejection blues

Hey, Peachtree Road Race corporate folks, want to know how to suck the excitement RIGHT out of the 2012 race for me? Yep. You got it. Deny my racing partner, aka boyfriend, of a number. He entered at the same time I did - submitted a legit time for possible seeding, requested a mail-out number - did everything exactly the way I did. And got denied. Remember that post I used to gush on about Read the entire post [...]

Register for the 2012 Peachtree Road Race tomorrow morning

As Heidi Klum famously said, "You're either in or you're out." Such is the Peachtree Road Race registration lottery, which begins at 7 a.m. tomorrow morning. Getting your name into the hat during the open registration period of March 15-22 is your best (only) shot at that treasured t-shirt come July 4. This year, the runner field is staying stagnant at 60,000. Although current ATC runners Read the entire post [...]

Registration dates for 2012 Peachtree Road Race released

Some of you may have seen it by now. An early 2012 Christmas present. Ahh yes...the first anouncement from the 2012 Peachtree Road Race that registration will open Thursday, March 15. Mark it on your calendar now, fellow runners.   No longer are the days of waiting for that faithful Sunday morning to run out, getting that day's AJC, filling out your registration and mailing it in. No; Read the entire post [...]

Peachtree Road Race — the heart of the matter

I was a bit shocked to hear my sister describe a scene she walked past a week and a half ago in the Peachtree Road Race: a man lying on the ground, receiving CPR, a crowd gathered around him, and EMTs preparing a defibrillator to be placed on his chest. "Yikes. That sounds pretty scary," I said, half-way blowing off what I thought could perhaps be an overdramatization. And then I saw 11Alive's Read the entire post [...]

Will run for photo

If you've read any part of my blog before, you know how much I love race photos. Seriously. I love them. So you can only imagine how disappointed I was when I realized that MarathonFoto found no pictures of me this year. 7 years I've been running this race, and it usually yields 3-6 pictures that my family shares with each other, laughs about, and even has purchased in the past. Not this year. Read the entire post [...]

A new Peachtree Road Race training method

By this time tomorrow, I will have completed my 7th Peachtree Road Race. I will have also hopefully showered, napped, and be preparing for a long day of celebrating our nation's independence! Aside from that, I've got a number of emotions running through me today -- anxiety being one of them. I'm still getting over the virus I caught at the beach. A sore throat, slight cough, and congestion still Read the entire post [...]

Don’t cut off your laces

The Peachtree Road Race lottery is over. The runners have been selected, and the notifications have been sent out. Did you get in to the world's largest 10k? Call it what you want -- luck or good timing -- but I got in. So did my Dad, sister, her husband, and his sister. The whole gang! I'm pretty excited about it. I think the whole idea of a "lottery" made me a bit nervous, and rightfully so. Apparently, Read the entire post [...]
