While we haven’t had the opportunity to run our first half yet, we’re always super excited and willing to tell you guys about them when we see a good one.
This weekend is the inaugural Chick-fil-A Half Marathon in Athens, Georgia.
Saturday, April 5th, runners, joggers, and walkers alike will grace the streets of the Classic City to show their support for Athens Habitat for Humanity. Not a runner or not ready for a half marathon quite yet? No worries! Events on Saturday will also include:
- 1-Mile Fun Run
- 1-Mile Competitive Run
- $8,200 in cash prizes
- Chick-fil-A® Food Product Giveaways for the whole year!
- Meet and Greet with Jarryd Wallace, Paralympic gold medalist and 200-meter World Record holder from the 2013 International Paralympic Competition
- Entertainment by Athens musician Sam Burchfield
Sounds like an awesome time. We’re bummed The Good Foot won’t be able to make it, but we are super excited to see more events like this one taking place for the great state of Georgia. And being represented by large local companies! Delta, UPS, Coke…where are y’all at?
The half and half relay will take place all throughout historic Athens, including circling around Sanford Stadium, and running through some of the UGA campus. Sounds absolutely beautiful. Oh, and….GO DAWGS! Check out more course info here. Here are some pictures from previous Chick-fil-A races.
Hurry and sign up — all online registration ends at midnight tonight!
Are you planning on running it? Tweet us your pictures @goodfootblog — and make sure to use the official #CFAhalf! Good luck, Georgia runners!
