Will run for photo

If you've read any part of my blog before, you know how much I love race photos. Seriously. I love them. So you can only imagine how disappointed I was when I realized that MarathonFoto found no pictures of me this year. 7 years I've been running this race, and it usually yields 3-6 pictures that my family shares with each other, laughs about, and even has purchased in the past. Not this year. Read the entire post [...]

Don’t cut off your laces

The Peachtree Road Race lottery is over. The runners have been selected, and the notifications have been sent out. Did you get in to the world's largest 10k? Call it what you want -- luck or good timing -- but I got in. So did my Dad, sister, her husband, and his sister. The whole gang! I'm pretty excited about it. I think the whole idea of a "lottery" made me a bit nervous, and rightfully so. Apparently, Read the entire post [...]

Don’t forget to register for the 2011 Peachtree Road Race!

I have an announcement! I will be waking up (in my opinion) super-freaking-early on Tuesday, March 15, 2011. 4:55 a.m. is when my alarm clock will go off. I will spring to my laptop with one URL in mind: ajc.com/peachtree. That's right. 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning is when registration for the 2011 Peachtree Road Race opens. It closes a week and two days later, but I've got a word to the wise: register Read the entire post [...]

The Peachtree Road Race — still the world’s largest 10K

41 looks good on you, Peachtree Road Race. Perhaps it's all of that work you've had done recently. Many of you may received the communication piece sent by the Atlanta Track Club last week explaining a few of the changes to the race, including a new entry process, a group option, and an enlarged field. 5,000. That's how many extra runners will be allowed in the 2011 Peachtree Road Race this July Read the entire post [...]

Who doesn’t love race photos?

Honestly. Who doesn't love a good mid-race action shot? The sweating. The look of pain and/or triumph. The memories. The feeling of pride. The energy. The crowd. The runner. The running. A race photo always evokes an emotion for me -- even if it's of someone else. I recently saw a race photo that I fell in love with. It was from a sort of Interior Design blog, and was being used as an example of Read the entire post [...]

Photogenic runner?

So the Peachtree Road Race is over. It went off with a hitch! I thought the time groups went well. What did you think? So everyone should have gotten their photos today. I love this part. It allows me to critique my run, and my capabilities to be a photogenic runner, which I am so NOT. Yuck. But to see how my foot is turned...yikes! Hopefully it was a result of me just slow down and that's not how Read the entire post [...]

Tick tock. Tick tock.

The sound of the clock ticking is overshadowing my Peachtree Road Race training. When did the race get LESS THAN A WEEK away?! Holy Moses! Thank God I ran at the beach last week. Still, my route tonight kicked my bum big time. I'd rather have beach humidity over a hilly, suburban-Atlanta course any day! How's everyone else's training going? Did you get caught up in the bib-number-pickup debacle? Read the entire post [...]

Please, Peachtree?

So who's got their Peacthree Road Race bibs already? Apparently, numbers will be arriving in a few weeks for those who requested them by mail. I, unfortunately, had to apply for a number. Long story short, the corporation I usually run for decided not to support a Peachtree RR team this year and failed to tell anyone until after the online registration was over. Ummm thanks. So now I'm counting on Read the entire post [...]

I put some new shoes on…

Behold! The latest addition to my family of Mizunos: the Wave Inspire 6. They replace my Wave Nirvana 5s. They're not being replaced, really. I like to think of it as retirement. They may make an appearance in the yard or on the boat one day. When I worked at a sports store, a lot of people would ask me for shoe suggestions, and I always got the ugly look when I pointed them to the $100 Mizunos Read the entire post [...]
