3 Food Superstitions The Week of the Peachtree Road Race

The more I thought about writing this post, the more I've realized that I am way more superstitious that I'd like to admit to. Especially when it comes to sports. Reflecting on my actions this week, I can definitely say that I have three major superstitions specifically regarding food the week of the Peachtree Road Race. This being my 9th Peachtree, I think I've just started to do these things. Read the entire post [...]

Reviewing Your 2013 Peachtree Road Race T-shirt Options

Ah the Peachtree Road Race t-shirt. A time-honored tradition. Earned and worn by many. Discarded by some. I'm not sure WHO those people might be. But I'm sure they exist. I've heard some runners say that they do it for the t-shirt. To me, it's not the only reason to run the Peachtree, but Without further adieu, here are the t-shirt candidates for 2013, and my commentary on their designs. Read the entire post [...]

What else can you use your running shoes for?

I'll make this one easy: nothing. Knowing how to care for, and when to replace, your running shoes are often details looked over in the larger running ecosystem of trails, and partners, and weather, and apparel. I've made the mistake myself. We all have at one point or another. No one wakes up one morning and is the perfect runner. You run and you learn. Let me help you by saying that you Read the entire post [...]

It’s the most wonderful holiday 10K in Georgia

I LOVE themed races. (Except when they involve zombies chasing you.) That's why, when the holidays roll around -- or high-speed-rails into my life in this year's case -- I get excited. Themed races...much less holiday themed races...make me go all Buddy The Elf. The costumes, the special yummy treats at the end, the pictures, and of course, the atmosphere! They're all so much better than your run-of-the-mill Read the entire post [...]

Back in the running shoes again

So I'm running my third 10k in 2012 tomorrow at the  Big Peach Sizzler! Have I been training? Yesss....Has it been as extensive/tough as it should be? No. But I'm ready. Obviously the Peachtree was great this year, and same goes for the Possum Trot. And I realized that when you train, you are training as much mentally as you are physically. And I think that doing other races throughout the year helps Read the entire post [...]

Yeah; the new Nike Running commercial is cute

I'm sure you've seen it. It's the one where the couple promises each other they'll run and meet in the middle. Then, the incredibly-out-of-his-league guy is incredibly weak and lame and miserably fails and the girl ends up running CROSS COUNTRY to see her love, even devouring an ice cream cone along the way. Women runners ftw. I mean, after all, our endurance and tolerance for pain is much higher Read the entire post [...]

5k chase: Does a zombie run result in more injuries?

Typically, road (or trail) (or obstacle) races are somewhat "easy" going. You can run as leisurely or as intensely as you'd like. You can set your own pace, pop in some tunes, join up with friends, and cruise along an enjoyable route. It's fun to most; addicting to many. Not this one. This one is different. This particular race is a 5k obstacle. We've all seen those. Many have completed Read the entire post [...]

Baby we were born to run: Couples who run together last longer

Valentine's Day is here. Wasn't it just Christmas? Yikes. Who's already run/successfully trained for their first long run, half, or marathon this year? Overachievers. Ok, ok. Put your hands down. I've got another question. Have you ever thought about making your life partner your running partner as well? I must confess something that many people may not be able to: I love running with my boo. Pinterest can be useful for runners, too!

Pinterest (or Pin Interest  or P-Interest as some people call it) is awesome for oh-so many reasons. (For those of you who aren't as familiar with Pinterest, it's basically an eye candy/inspiration/sharing tool. You have the ability to "pin" things to your inspiration boards, organize by categories, and share with those who follow your pinnings. It's an awesome tool and has caught on like wildfire Read the entire post [...]
