Atlanta’s Thanksgiving Half makes national ‘Top 50’

If you've ever run the Atlanta Half Marathon on Thanksgiving, congrats! Not only have you completed a half, but you've also run one of the best half marathons in America according to Daily Burn. Atlanta's Half has been named in the list of The Daily Burn's Top 50 Half Marathons in The U.S. I personally have never had the pleasure of competing a half marathon, much less the prestigious Atlanta Read the entire post [...]

The Peachtree Road Race, transportation & you

The Peachtree Road Race is just around the corner, and that can only mean one thing for me (other than training)...planning and logistics! Such a large, long run in such a large city does not mean that you can just drive down and park like any other small-town 5/10K you've run before. Also, the fact that The Peachtree Road Race is not a loop means that you will need to have a plan. This post is Read the entire post [...]

Reviewing Your 2013 Peachtree Road Race T-shirt Options

Ah the Peachtree Road Race t-shirt. A time-honored tradition. Earned and worn by many. Discarded by some. I'm not sure WHO those people might be. But I'm sure they exist. I've heard some runners say that they do it for the t-shirt. To me, it's not the only reason to run the Peachtree, but Without further adieu, here are the t-shirt candidates for 2013, and my commentary on their designs. Read the entire post [...]

What else can you use your running shoes for?

I'll make this one easy: nothing. Knowing how to care for, and when to replace, your running shoes are often details looked over in the larger running ecosystem of trails, and partners, and weather, and apparel. I've made the mistake myself. We all have at one point or another. No one wakes up one morning and is the perfect runner. You run and you learn. Let me help you by saying that you Read the entire post [...]

It’s the most wonderful holiday 10K in Georgia

I LOVE themed races. (Except when they involve zombies chasing you.) That's why, when the holidays roll around -- or high-speed-rails into my life in this year's case -- I get excited. Themed races...much less holiday themed races...make me go all Buddy The Elf. The costumes, the special yummy treats at the end, the pictures, and of course, the atmosphere! They're all so much better than your run-of-the-mill Read the entire post [...]

Back in the running shoes again

So I'm running my third 10k in 2012 tomorrow at the  Big Peach Sizzler! Have I been training? Yesss....Has it been as extensive/tough as it should be? No. But I'm ready. Obviously the Peachtree was great this year, and same goes for the Possum Trot. And I realized that when you train, you are training as much mentally as you are physically. And I think that doing other races throughout the year helps Read the entire post [...]

Looking for an Action-packed 5k this Labor Day?

If you're anything like me, 5Ks can be boring. A group of people line up at a start line, run/walk 3 miles, and then get together to drink water and support a cause afterward. Snooze fest! So when I hear of an exciting 5K race in Georgia, I'm all over it. It doesn't get much more exciting than having the word ACTION in the name of the 5k. "Why would a boring 5K have the word ACTION in the name Read the entire post [...]

I got the Peachtree Road Race rejection blues

Hey, Peachtree Road Race corporate folks, want to know how to suck the excitement RIGHT out of the 2012 race for me? Yep. You got it. Deny my racing partner, aka boyfriend, of a number. He entered at the same time I did - submitted a legit time for possible seeding, requested a mail-out number - did everything exactly the way I did. And got denied. Remember that post I used to gush on about Read the entire post [...]

Featured Georgia 5k: Breathe Deep Blue Ridge; April 7

The Mercier Family Orchards. For any respectable North Georgian, those four words arouse a certain memory, smell, or sense of excitement when heard. I know it does the trick for me. Whether it's for warm apple bread dripped with icing, hot or cold apple cider, some fresh honey or produce, or freshly baked fried apple pies (for my boyfriend), we're lifelong fans of the Mercier Family Orchards. I Read the entire post [...]
